Adventure Bible Family Devotions
Jeremy and Jeffrey entered the garage, where their father was gassing up the snow blower. “Dad, Mrs. Williams’s car is buried!” Jeremy said. “Yeah,” Jeffrey added. “All that snow last night drifted right over it.” Their dad tightened the gas cap. “Well, why don’t you boys just drift over there and dig it out? She’s been alone since her husband died. Your help would really be a blessing to her.” He yanked the cord, and the snow blower roared to life. The boys grabbed shovels and went to Mrs. Williams’s house. Wind had driven snow across her driveway, covering her car up to the roof.
“You dig out the back. I’ll do the front,” Jeremy said. The boys dug for an hour. It was hard work, but it was fun watching the vehicle slowly appear. And it felt good to do something nice for their neighbor.
Being a Christian means more than just believing in God and Jesus. It also means caring about the people God cares about and doing what you can for them when they need help. God wants your faith in him to give you compassion for others. (See James 2:14-26.) Let your faith be a wind that blows you toward good deeds.
Bible Verse: Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this [in part]: to look after orphans and widows in their distress. – James 1:27
Words to Treasure: I will show you my faith by my deeds. – James 2:18
