⁶ For he shall be ^(A)like a shrub in the desert,
And ^(B)shall not see when good comes,
But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
^(C)In a salt land which is not inhabited.

⁹ Therefore, as I live,”
Says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel,
“Surely ^(A)Moab shall be like Sodom,
And ^(B)the people of Ammon like Gomorrah—
^(C)Overrun^[a] with weeds and saltpits,
And a ^[b]perpetual desolation.
The residue of My people shall plunder them,
And the remnant of My people shall possess them.”
