3:2 length of days. The normal expectation is that wisdom will lead to a long, prosperous life, which is the blessing of God (Ex. 20:12).

peace. Hebrew shalom. The term denotes general well-being, a harmony of relationships, wholeness, and health (v. 8). In the Old Testament, the blessings of God are seen primarily in terms of this present life. It was not easy to reconcile this perspective with the suffering of the righteous or the prosperity of the wicked. The revelation that was to come with Christ and especially His resurrection from the dead was still far in the future.
