In the case of the daughters of Zelophehad it had been established that women could inherit land (27:1–11). If a daughter inheriting property were to marry outside her tribe, it appeared that the Law of Jubilee would cause the land to be transfered to the tribe of the new husband. Moses rules that a woman with property may not marry outside her tribe. In agreement with this, the daughters of Zelophehad married relatives in Manasseh.
