20:1–13 In his exasperation with Israel, Moses acted presumptuously and failed to honor the holiness of God (vv. 9–11 note; Ex. 17:6 notes). The seriousness of Moses’ sin is evident from the resulting judgment—he was not allowed to enter the Promised Land (v. 12).
