Mark 14:61

14:61 Christ. From the Greek word meaning “anointed one.” “Messiah” represents the Hebrew word of the same meaning (1 Sam. 2:10 note).

Son of the Blessed. “The Blessed” is an indirect substitute for “God,” used by the Jews to avoid the risk of taking God’s name in vain. The whole title means “Son of God,” and in the context indicates royal messiahship rather than absolute divinity.
