20:27 Sadducees. Luke mentions the Sadducees only here. None of their writings survive, so we know them only as their opponents saw them. They were conservative and aristocratic, and counted the high priests among their ranks. They rejected the oral tradition of the Pharisees and found no basis for a doctrine of resurrection in the Old Testament.
