3:5 Consecrate yourselves. “Consecrate” means “to make holy” (5:15 note), and probably refers to physical actions like washing that symbolize the holiness of the people. There was a similar requirement when God came down to the people at Mount Sinai (Ex. 19:10, 14, 15).
