23:13 God will no longer drive out. The validity of God’s promise (v. 5) is not dependent on human cooperation. The history of Israel shows this, as does the rest of the Bible, culminating in the work of Christ. But the promise will not benefit those who reject the grace of God. This provision was part of the promise from the beginning (Gen. 12:3).
