1:12–15 Num. 32 shows how the Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh (13:8 note) had already received their portion of land east of the Jordan. It was understood that they would also join in Israel’s conquest of the western portion of the Promised Land (Num. 32:16–32; Deut. 3:18–20).
