8:20 God will not reject a blameless man. This verse contains the heart of Bildad’s theology of suffering. As standard wisdom it was not wrong. Ps. 1:6 teaches that the Lord cares about the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish. Bildad’s error consisted in assuming that because Job was suffering he had to be a godless person.
