36:5–15 Elihu struggles with Job’s complaint about the wicked who prosper and the righteous who suffer (v. 6). With this in mind he dwells on God’s power, goodness, justice, and mercy. But all this is in the context of the view of suffering where suffering is always in direct proportion to sins and righteousness is always blessed. Only the last judgment will reveal this; compare John 9:2, 3 with Rom. 2:6; 2 Cor. 5:10.
