24:1–25 Job has not yet learned the important lesson that justice does not operate mechanically in this world, but according to the divine will. If it were not so, the human race would have perished long ago. This chapter alternates between descriptions of the fortunate wicked and the sufferings of their victims, with emphasis on the sufferings. Job wants the wicked to be judged so that those who know God will see it and know that God is just. The chapter shows Job’s hatred of wickedness.
