2:7 defiled my land . . . my heritage. See Deut. 21:23. God’s holy people (Deut. 7:6) dwell in the land He gave them for a heritage. The land can be defiled, or in religious terms be made “unclean,” by sin, because it remains God’s possession. See Lev. 25:23.
