11:5 confirm the oath that I swore. The covenant with Abraham was in the form of a divine promise (Gen. 15:17–21; cf. Deut. 4:31). Under the terms of the Mosaic covenant, the temporal blessings of the Abrahamic covenant were administered on the basis of Israel’s obedience (Ex. 19–24). Under the terms of the new covenant, the eternal blessings of the Abrahamic covenant are administered on the basis of Christ’s obedience, while the believer’s obedience proves the vitality of their professed faith (James 2:14–26).

So be it. The “So be it” (Hebrew amen) indicates acceptance of the terms laid down. See Deut. 27:15–26.
