Ahaz, king of Judah, was seriously threatened by the alliance of Pekah, king of Israel, with Rezin, king of Syria (2 Kin. 16:5–18; 2 Chr. 28:16–21). They threatened to invade Judah if Ahaz would not help them against Assyria.
