13:15 continually offer. The time of animal sacrifice is past, but the servants of God, like all priests, still have gifts and offerings for Him. These spiritual sacrifices (1 Pet. 2:5) include praises toward God (v. 15) and acts of love toward other people (v. 16).
sacrifice of praise. In the Greek translation of Lev. 7:11–21, this phrase refers to a kind of “peace offering,” which was an animal sacrifice. But the meaning here is closer to Ps. 50:14, 23 where the Lord calls for “thanksgiving” instead of animal sacrifices.
the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. In Hos. 14:12 this attractive figure of speech is used for the words that one offers to God when one’s sins are forgiven. This is “the sacrifice of praise.”
