12:5 sons. God’s plan to lead many sons to glory meant that the author of their salvation was to be perfected through suffering (2:10), even though He was the Son who deserved no suffering (5:8). It is not surprising, then, that the adopted sons who follow Him should be prepared for their inheritance through painful discipline.
