Gratitude derives from knowing that our names are written in heaven (Luke 10:20) and from our experience of God’s “inexpressible gift”—Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 9:15). Reverence and awe come from an appreciation of who God is (v. 29). Acceptable worship combines these motives.
