12:24 Jesus’ presence in the heavenly Zion explains its atmosphere of joy and confidence. The blood of Abel cried for vengeance from the ground (Gen. 4:10), but the blood of Jesus, to use the same figure, “speaks a better word” (that is, cries out for forgiveness for the children of God, 9:12–15; 10:19–22).
