29:31–35 God graciously gave Leah, the unloved wife, half of Jacob’s sons, including the priestly line of Levi (v. 34) and the messianic line of Judah (v. 35; 49:10). The first and last of the children born in Paddan-aram are given by the Lord to compensate disgraced wives, first Leah (v. 32), and then Rachel (30:23, 24).
