29:1–30 Jacob experienced the blessings of divine providence in meeting Rachel (vv. 1–14), and in a bitter irony the deceiver became the deceived (vv. 15–29). Behind the two scenes the gracious and just hand of the sovereign God, who works all things according to His own purpose and who promised to be with Jacob (28:15), can be discerned.
