3:12 the law is not of faith. Here Paul speaks of the law as God’s requirement, apart from the promise of God’s covenant. Leviticus (18:5) states the requirement and predicts the failure and curse that followed (26:14–38). The promise is also repeated (26:40–45), for it is not voided (3:15–22).
