4:29 This prayer of the believing community illustrates the way in which the church should be empowered and encouraged by God’s sovereignty. In the face of the threat of physical violence, the church affirmed God’s control of the situation (v. 28) and, encouraged by this, they petitioned for greater boldness.

Lord. The Greek word for “Lord” is kyrios, used in the Septuagint (the Greek Old Testament) to translate the divine name Yahweh. It is used in the New Testament to refer both to God and also to Christ specifically (2:36; 7:31).
