15:39 disagreement . . . separated. The failure of Barnabas to support the Gentile Christians (Gal. 2:13) may have also contributed to the disagreement about Mark. Though the remainder of Acts contains no further record of Paul working with Barnabas, Paul mentions Barnabas in a positive light in 1 Cor. 9:6. Paul’s later high regard for Mark is evident in Col. 4:10; Philem. 24; 2 Tim. 4:11.

Barnabas took Mark . . . Cyprus. Barnabas took his cousin Mark (Col. 4:10) on a missionary journey to the island of Cyprus, Barnabas’s home. This would also provide an opportunity for Barnabas to encourage (4:36) the younger man.
