2 Sam 6:3

6:3 new cart. This mode of transporting the ark recalls the Philistine precedent set in 1 Sam. 6:7 but neglects the divine directive that the ark, equipped with rings and poles (Ex. 25:12–14; 37:5), is to be carried on the shoulders of priests (Num. 4:15, 19; 7:9; Deut. 10:8; Josh. 3:8; etc.).

house of Abinadab. See 1 Sam. 7:1.
