8:4 the king. He is unnamed, but if this king is Jehoram (1:17; 3:13), it is surprising that he knows nothing of Elisha’s activities. Either this incident took place soon after the events of 4:8–37 or the king referred to here is Jehu (ch. 9).

Gehazi. He was Elisha’s personal attendant (4:12 note; 5:27 note).
