25:22 Gedaliah. Having abolished the monarchy, Nebuchadnezzar appointed Gedaliah as governor. Gedaliah’s father Ahikam supported Jeremiah (Jer. 26:24). Nebuchadnezzar chose a well-known citizen of Judah as governor to bring stability to the land (Jer. 40:9–12).
Ahikam. Gedaliah’s father had been a close adviser of Josiah (22:12).
