20:13 his armory, all that was found in his storehouses. This display probably occurred before Hezekiah sent his treasures as tribute to the Assyrians (v. 1 note; 18:14–16 note). Hezekiah was attempting to impress his Babylonian visitors with his nation’s wealth and power. Hezekiah was receptive to the idea of an alignment with Egypt and Babylon. Isaiah opposed Ahaz’s treaty with Assyria (Is. 7:1–17), and he opposed this attempt to make a treaty with Babylon and Egypt (vv. 16–18; Is. 30; 31).
