14:22 Elath. A seaport on the Gulf of Aqaba, Elath was first used by Solomon to foster sea trade with other nations (1 Kin. 9:26–28). Because Amaziah defeated Edom (v. 7), his son Azariah was able to rebuild Elath and again use it as a Judean port (cf. 1 Kin. 22:47–49; 2 Kin. 8:20–22; 16:6).
