ZICHRI zĭk’ rī (זִכְרִֽי, meaning derived from the root remember, perhaps remembrance, mindful), a personal, family, tribal name widely used in the OT. 1. A Levite, of the sub-group of Kohath of the house of Izhar (Exod 6:21).

2. A Benjaminite, descended from Shimei (1 Chron 8:19).

3. A Benjaminite, descended from Shashak (8:23).

4. A Benjaminite descended from Jehoram (8:27).

5. A Benjaminite in the days of Nehemiah whose son Joel was overseer of the Benjaminites (Neh 11:9).

6. A Levite, descended from Asaph (1 Chron 9:15), possibly the same as Zaccur in 1 Chronicles 25:2, Nehemiah 12:35, and Zabdi in Nehemiah 11:17 (where ב is confused with ך and ד with ר). The three names have the common root זכר.

7. A Levite, descended from Moses’ son Eliezer, and father of Shelomoth (1 Chron 26:25).

8. A Reubenite whose son Eliezer was one of David’s tribal leaders (27:16).

9. A man of Judah, father of Amasiah a “volunteer for the service of Yahweh” (2 Chron 17:16) in the days of Jehoshaphat.

10. A man of Judah whose son Elishaphat was a military leader in the days of Jehoiada the high priest who was involved in the plot which overthrew Athaliah and reinstated the boy Joash as king in Judah (2 Chron 23:1).

11. A mighty man of Ephraim in the army of Pekah the king of Israel who slew Maaseiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah and two of the king’s officers when Pekah attacked Judah in company with Rezin king of Damascus (2 Chron 28:7).

12. A priest of the house of Abijah in the days of the high priest Joiakim, father of the Eliashib of Nehemiah’s day (Neh 12:17).
