WALLET (πῆρα, traveler’s bag). The “scrip” of KJV, “wallet” of ASV, a leather bag, differentiated from βαλλαντιον, the purse in some of the relevant contexts (Matt 10:10; Luke 9:3; 10:4; 22:35). In Judith 13:10 the words τῶν βρῶματων are added, suggesting, in fact, what the contexts imply, that the word meant a leather bag for carrying provisions. It was commonly used by shepherds, and may have been a more substantial version of the kophinos (see [http://biblegateway/wiki/Earthen Vessels, Earthenware VESSELS]).
