UTENSILS (כֵּלִ֖ים). Any material thing or object that can be handled and carried, like a tool, weapon, implement, vessel, or receptacle. The word is repeatedly used of the various items used in the Tabernacle and the Temple (Exod 25:39; 27:3, 19; 30:27, 28; 31:8, 9; 1 Chron 9:28, 29; 2 Chron 24:14-19). In the KJV “utensil” is never used; “vessel” appears instead. The RSV does, however, sometimes use the word “vessel,” as in 1 Kings 10:21; 2 Chronicles 9:20; Jeremiah 27:18-21.
