Tunic

TUNIC (כֻּתֹּ֫נֶת, H4189; Aram. פַּטִּישׁ, H10582; χιτών, G5945). An under garment for both sexes; usually tr. coat in Eng. VSS. The Heb. word is rendered by four different words in the RSV: garment, coat, robe and tunic (only in Job 30:18; KJV coat). The Aram. word is found only in Daniel 3:21 (KJV hosen; RSV tunic). In the NT, the Gr. word χιτών, G5945, is rendered by RSV as tunic (Matt 10:10; Mark 6:9; Luke 9:3), coat, and garment.
