OLYMPIAN ZEUS, TEMPLE OF ō lĭm’ pĭ ən zōōs (Διὸ̀ς ̓Ολύμπιος). KJV TEMPLE OF JUPITER OLYMPIUS. The name given by Antiochus Epiphanes when he dedicated the Temple of Jerusalem to Jupiter Olympius in 168 b.c. (2 Macc 6:2). Olympus was a mountain in Thessaly in Greece on the summit of which Zeus presided over the gods.
