SHETH shĕth (שֵׁ֕ת). 1. A son of Adam and Eve; he was born after the murder of Abel by Cain (1 Chron 1:1 KJV; RSV SETH). He became the father of Enosh and died at the age of 912 (Gen 5:6-8).

2. “The sons of Sheth” is a descriptive term for Moabites in Numbers 24:17 (KJV, ASV mg., RSV); but ASV has “sons of tumult.” Balaam foretold their defeat by an Israelite ruler (Num 24:15-19).
