SALMA, SALMON săl’ mə, săl’ mən (שַׂלְמָֽה, salmāh [Ruth 4:20]; שַׂלְמﯴנ׃֙ salmōn [4:21]; שַׂלְמָ֔א, salmã' [1 Chron 2:11, 51, 54]). 1. A son of Caleb the son of Hur, and “father” or founder of Bethlehem (1 Chron 2:51, 54).

2. The father of Boaz (Ruth 4:20, 21). His name is found in the genealogy of Christ (Matt 1:4, 5; Luke 3:32; RSV SALA).
