PRESS (גַּת֒, H1780, יֶ֫קֶב, H3676). A word used in the KJV for “winepress” in Proverbs 3:10 (ASV, RSV VATS); Isaiah 16:10 (where ASV and RSV also have press); Joel 3:13 (ASV, RSV WINEPRESS); and Haggai 2:16. A winepress was a vat in which grapes were trodden to extract juice for making wine.
