Place of Prayer

PRAYER, PLACE OF (προσευχή, G4666, prayer). The phrase is used in Acts 16:13, but it is doubtful whether it there denotes a synagogue, for a synagogue required as a congregation a minimum of ten Jewish men; at Philippi only women are mentioned as gathering for worship at the river bank. Paul, however, sat down with them and told them about Christ.
