PERSIS pûr’ sĭs (Περσίς, G4372). A woman member of the Christian Church at Rome, to whom Paul sent greetings (Rom 16:12). He thought of her highly, referring to her as “the beloved Persis who has worked hard in the Lord.” The name is common in ancient papyri and inscrs.
