PARCHED GRAIN (קָלָה֒, H7828, קָלִי, H7833, קָּלִיא׃֙, KJV PARCHED CORN). A food, universally used in Palestine and Syria, made by roasting grains of wheat on an iron pan or flat stone, or by holding a small bundle of wheat stalks over a fire (Lev 23:14; Josh 5:11; Ruth 2:14; 1 Sam 17:17).
