LICENTIOUSNESS (ἀσέλγεια, G816). This is a disregard of accepted moral rules and standards, lack of moral restraint, dissoluteness, lasciviousness. It is said to characterize Gentiles (Eph 4:17-19) and heretics (Jude 4; 2 Peter 2:2, 18). When Paul uses the word, he usually has in mind sexual unrestraint (Rom 13:13; 2 Cor 12:21; Gal 5:19). The word is not found in the KJV.
