IZRAHITE ĭz’ rə hīt (יִזְרָ֑ח). Shamhuth, the captain of the fifth monthly course is called an “Izrahite” (1 Chron 27:8), meaning that he came from a family or town called Izrah. It may be the same as “Zerahite,” a descendant of Zerah of Judah (27:11).
