Fragmentary Story of Andrew

ANDREW, FRAGMENTARY STORY OF. A story, extant only in Coptic, from a late apocryphal book, about a woman who killed her child in the desert and fed it to a dog. On the approach of the apostles she fled, but the dog told what had happened. Andrew prayed, alluding to a miracle of Jesus on Mt. Gebal when “Thou didst command all the scattered stones and grains of sand to be gathered in one place.” The child then apparently came to life again.
