BLOOD, FLOW OF (see also [http://biblegateway/wiki/Diseases of the Bible DISEASES]), (δυσεντερία, G1547, dysentery). The disease of the father of Publius (Acts 28:8) called dysentery in ASV and RSV, characterized in severe cases by ulceration of the large intestine which causes hemorrhage. This may be either a bacterial or a protozoan disease, occasionally resulting in death. Publius was cured after Paul’s prayer and putting on of hands.
