Crib

CRIB (אֵבוּס, H17, meaning to feed). A box-shaped trough or manger covered with bars to hold fodder to assist in feeding livestock in cowsheds, foldyards and in fields. It was used as a feeding unit for the ass (Isa 1:3), for the ox (Prov 14:4) and for the wild ox (Job 39:9). Jesus was born in a φάτνη, G5764, a “manger,” a feeding trough for livestock (Luke 2:7, 12, 16).
