The name Simon Chosamaeus, however, prob. reflects a textual corruption or copyist’s error. In Ezra 10, a parallel account of those who put away their wives, “Shimeon” (Σεμεών) stands for Simon (v. 31) yet Chosamaeus is omitted. Instead, Shimeon is followed by “Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah,” three names lacking in 1 Esdras 9:32.
