CHALCEDONY kal’ sĕd ə nĭ, a semi-precious stone (Rev 21:19), with many different colored varieties, which occurs as a cavity filling in lavas and as nodules in sedimentary rocks. Varieties include chrysoprase, agate and onyx (q.v.). All are very fine-grained silica with a waxy luster.
