CARRIAGE. A conveyance for carrying things. A word used six times in the KJV (none in RSV) but inaccurately, since the Heb. and Gr. words involved place emphasis on the object to be carried rather than the vehicle: Judges 18:21 (כְּבוּדָּ֖ה, riches, abundance, RSV, goods); 1 Samuel 17:22; Isaiah 10:28 (כְּלִי, H3998, pl. baggage); Isaiah 46:1 (נְשׂוּאָה, H5953, that which is carried); and Acts 21:15 (ἐπισκευαζομαι, make preparations).
