The Brook Besor

BESOR, THE BROOK be’ zôr (נַ֣חַל הַבְּשֹׂ֑ור). A wadi which David crossed after setting out from Ziklag in pursuit of the Amalekites, a nomadic group from the Negeb and Sinai regions which had attacked and reduced Ziklag (1 Sam 30:9, 10, 21). At this wadi David left 200 of his men who were too exhausted to pursue the Amalekites further. It is prob. Wadi Ghazzeh, the largest of several wadis SW of Ziklag (Tell el-Khuweilfeh).
